Tuesday Coffee Chat - 5/02/17

Today I'm joining Less at Ink Interrupted for her Tuesday Coffee Chat, where we are asked to finish the sentence "If I could go anywhere today..."

If I could go anywhere today, where would I go? How could I choose just one destination? There are people I haven't seen in quite awhile...  my daughter, and my sisters; and people I've never met in person, but I'd love to. There are places I haven't been in a long time... the state I call home, and places where I feel most at home... the ocean. There are far away places that I lived long ago... Germany, I'd love to see how it's changed from what I remember. There are places that I've never seen, that are on my bucket list... the Pacific Northwest, the redwoods, Alaska, and a tropical island or two.  So many choices!

Then the answer came in a flash of brilliance... If I could go anywhere, I'd travel back in time, I'd go spend a day with my children when they were small; we'd play and bake cookies, and do fun things all day; and we wouldn't worry about unmade beds or washed faces.

Children grow up so fast while we are busy with working and parenting and housekeeping and such, and one day you discover they're grown and off on their own; and you will miss those days long ago, when life was about building blocks and feeding ducks at the park, and reading Dr. Seuss before breakfast.  Yes indeed, if I could go anywhere, that's surely where I would go!

  2. Well I am in that time zone of children and Dr Seuss right now, so I am going to Alaska for you. LOL
But I am sure I will say the same thing later on when they have flown away. But going back in time is not such a bad idea -- I could see Shakespeare actually performing Shakespeare!! Sail to one of those tropical islands as a new voyageur. So many options. :)

    1. A trip to Alaska would surely be fun at any age, the kids would love it too! You are right, if we could travel back in time we could have some amazing encounters and adventures. Imagine if we could observe or maybe even meet up with our ancestors!

  3. Like you I would go back in time. I would thank the people who helped me become who I am today and ask their forgiveness for my ungratefulness and disregard for their kindness and love at that time.

    1. That's a powerful choice, Patricia. It shows how much you've grown over the years in coming to realize that, like me, you weren't always the kind of person you strive to be now. I was so angry at times, and I think of ways I could have channeled that anger more productively. But at least we are still able to forgive ourselves, and those that have passed over are surely aware of our regret.

  4. Time travel! Why didn't I think of that? I would spend the day with my kids when they were teenagers and we would swim and picnic the whole day at Whiskeytown Lake in northern California. Those were some good days!

    1. Wouldn't it be magical to relive just one day like that, we would savor every single moment, knowing now how quickly life passes!
