A Cheesy Poem

I'm joining Zoe at "Uncharted" for Six Sentence Stories where our cue this week is "cheesy"...

The stories I write are quite cheesy; yes, almost as bad as this rhyme
I won't earn my fortune in writing, but still it's my favorite pastime
I never will run out of stories, or things that I'm wanting to say
I'm pretty sure I could just sit here and write fourteen hours a day
Alas, there is housework and laundry; the furkids are wanting to play
I'll cease stringing words for the moment, but return before end of the day

Visit Six Sentence Stories for some great reading,
and add a story of your own.

  1. The quote is fantastic. I need a little inspiration to get back into my writing. Another quote you posted on Facebook today made me think that if it is meant to be it will come easily. Hmmm! Food for thought nourishes my brain. I think your poem is ever so clever. (rhyme intentional)

    1. I loved that quote too, Val! We somehow think we should start out and be at a professional level, but that's not how it works! I translate the FB quote a bit differently. I think things that are supposed to be will work out without being forced, but that doesn't mean we don't have to put in effort and plan for their success. There is a difference between effort and force. I have done both at various times in life, and the forced things never ended well. Loved your comment on my silly poem, I was having fun with it, but truth none the less!

    1. OMG Jamie, do you remember the pages of emotional crap I used to roll out on a daily basis way back then? But it gave me the outlet I needed to survive, and over time I've learned to cope better because of it! I'm not sure my writing has improved, but I enjoy it a lot more now! Hugs back to you, dear friend, how happy it makes me to see you making the difficult effort to show up. I appreciate you! xoxo

    1. At one time in life a couple chapters ago, I wrote some fairly decent poetry, but poetry requires angst, and I don't experience as much of that now! So I do these little rhyming ditties just for fun. :-)

  4. That is a fun poem! Yes, if there were no housework (or other work) to be done, i'd love to simply read and write and do the stuff i love all of the time. Maybe if i ever retire!

    1. Thanks, Mimi, I was smiling as I wrote it. I only life was such that we could be ladies of leisure! I am blessed with the time God has given me right now, and I pray that one day you will soon have more time for yourself too! xoxo
