Weary Traveler

The weariness showed in his eyes and his gait
Nearly fifty years of working and never being late
His journey of life with much hope had begun
Now he was just tired and ready to be done

    1. I do too, and I have to look at those eyes every day, it breaks my heart that he still has to work so hard.

    1. I really hope you are able to do that soon,Patricia! I agree, there comes a time when we want to say "enough work" and do the things that we most enjoy.

  3. I see the weariness in my husband's eyes and yet he is driven to continue working. I suppose there comes a time when we all know when the time is to be done. An excellent poem full of emotion.

    1. Thank you, Val. Mine would gladly be retired if that were possible. His life hasn't been easy, and it appears it won't be for at least awhile.
