The Gift

Recently a dear friend gifted me with a new Bible after I told her how much I liked the translation she was using in her posts (NLT).  She sent a beautifully bound, large print volume, soft to the touch and gentle on senior eyes.  When I opened it randomly for the first time to read a passage, I was given another gift, one of Presence and Love.  The Bible opened to John 4, which just happens to be my favorite story, that of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well.  It has personal meaning to me.

The chapter goes on to tell the story of Jesus healing a child who was about to die.  This came at a time when I was very worried about one of my own children.  I believe there was a promise for me in those verses, hope I desperately needed to dispel the anxiety that was overtaking me.  I could not have chosen a more perfect place to begin my day, and I had to smile at the sweetness of being led to something not only familiar but so very close to my heart.

  1. The Spirit always knows what we need and shows us the way. We are blessed to know Him and to be loved without restraint or hesitation. Thank you for the reminder.

    1. As my new Bible sits on the table next to my chair it is a good reminder to me as well. Thank you so very much for it! I was so grateful for that message of encouragement and love.

    1. I agree, Gail. If we set apart time to seek and to listen to the answers that are given. I am always distracted and "busy", and need to work on that!

    1. I agree, Skipper. I found the peace and confirmation I needed that day, it was definitely a gift to my heart! Anxiety is not fun to live with, and not effective in resolving anything!
